Thanks go to Erik who has let us know that a new version of MSN/Windows Messenger (Build 4.7.0105) has been released. Yet again there are no details of what has changed since the last release. | ||

The thing I like MOST about Windows/MSN Messenger is the little popup notification in the systray by the clock.
With Trillian, you NEED to buy the Pro version in order to have that functionality. I would give up MANY of the other functionalities in Trillian to have just that pop up feature. Until then, I will continue to use MSN/Windows Messenger and AIM Express (the web version of AIM) that way I don't have to load the actual AIM client on my system..ack! |

| As I understand it MSN Messenger 5 will run side by side with Windows Messenger. It should be out on or before the 24th when MSN 8 is released. |

| Someone asked MS in a tech chat recently why they wanted to split the Messenger line instead of just putting it all in one client, and the answer was that most people would only want to run one or the other and that they're targeted at different audiences. I don't quite follow this, since Windows Messenger is split between consumer and business customers, while MSN Messenger will be just consumer customers, but maybe the inference was that home users should just use MSN Messenger. I can't imagine why anyone would want both running at once, unless they truly need multiple logins, but then there are 3rd-party tools for that anyway. |
