Thanks Nick & Paul It appears as if MSN has been updating thier sites in preperation for MSN 8's big launch. Money.MSN.com has been updated with the new MSN 8 look while Beta.MSN.com gives an early glimpse of the main page. Also MSN Today is online for MSN Messenger v5 users who have MSN Today selected.

I used a leaked build back in August. It was pretty nice. Haven't used it since though.

Have you told us what your profession is to know so much about the goings on of MSN, Trade?

I didn't think you had. Does an NDA prevent you from doing so? I'd like to know, if you can tell us.

The reason I am so against purple on MSN is because Sun uses purple so much. Finally they got rid of all the insane amount of purple they had on their site. Every time I see purple on MSN, I think of Sun. Green would be a much more logical color for a money site anyway.

I used to do a lot on Sun's site when I was writing Java. Fortunately I'm a 100% Windows developer now. :)

Ah, I'm glad about MSNBC. I like the MSN additions, but the site looks, um, well like it needs more work.
As for MSN Alerts, that makes sense. In its current form it looks like it was designed for 640x480. Yuck!

Adding contacts... You'd be really annoyed with me then. I do that all the time. I usually test to see if people can guess who I am or wait to see how long it takes them to say "Who are you?" in an IM. It kind of makes me laugh when they don't recognize me, but don't ask either.
I haven't seen the Longhorn alpha (and I'd never install it if I did), but it wouldn't surprise me if it were real. As for Messenger, I'm so looking forward to logging in with two Passports at once.
MSNBC. I started reading in 1998 and I've noticed that everything looks about that same as it did way back then. In contrast microsoft.com has changed about 5 times since then. I know that branding is important, but it is still possible to improve an already good thing. If/when there is a public beta of the redesign, please post a link for us.

I was about to ask if it were fake, but then I read the rest of your post. I've heard that one of the reasons that MSN Messenger and Windows Messenger would be able to co exist on a machine was so that business folks could log in with one of them for business contacts and the other for personal contacts. From that, I gather that Microsoft is concerned about a Messenger in the business world (well there is a lot of other evidence of their concern, but anyway...).
So is there a business version of Messenger planned? Perhaps one that supported secure IM'ing, chat logging, etc. ?

Lol, that was some wallpaper.
I do remember the beige addition on MSNBC. Yeah, the changes weren't start enough for me to even remember when they happened.

"Apparently, however, AOL's brain trust figured it wasn't quite enough to shout from the rooftops that America Online was (finally) eliminating pop-up advertising, after hearing increasingly shrill complaints from its customers, who number 35 million in total. "
AOL 8 blocks pop ups?
That was an interesting article. What made you cringe?

Not in a million years would I imagine Bill on his knees. If he wouldn't do it for the judge, why would he do it for anyone/thing else?
