Thanks to Rommel for this bit of news. Dell is preparing its Pocket PC and no one was sure of the spec's until reecently. PDA France have managed to get hold of the official Dell documents. Here are the official specs of the Pocket PC "Clemente":
Some of the accessories that come included is a high capacity battery, a second battery replacement (removable), and 2 types of keyboard - foldable and SnapOn. The Celemente will be marketed at $299 and should be a very competitive product for that price because of the 2 batteries that come with it. Please note this was not an exact translation from the site. | ||

| Woooah nice find. Not sure I like it though. These guys should all come with builtin wifi and consumer ir so I can control my stereo components with these. Nice price point though . . . |

If the price is $299, then I would not mind having another Pocket PC. =)
#4 ...unfortunately, no one has made or planned for 256 + MB, although the upcoming iPaq H5000 series will have an integrated 128 MB of RAM for its high end models. RAM upgrade is available thought at this site: http://www.pocketpctechs.com/ |

I imagine advertised battery lifetime has something to do with it.
Speaking of memory prices. So I've been thinking about buying a laptop. Looking at a cheap Dell Inspiron 2600. It comes with 128 Megs standard... I can upgrade to 512 Megs for like only an additional $400 according to their website. The thing just uses regular SO-DIMM memory fromwhat I can tell, and 256 Meg sticks of that are like $40/each. Memory isn't cheap when it's installed at the factory. :) |

#6 ...for desktop PCs, yes the RAMs are cheap.
1 GB, yes that is a nice idea, but having a integrated 1 gb micro drive will jack the price up. Another thing to consider is that Pocket PCs does not have any moving parts, and having a microdrive will cause the system to heat up. put them all in there, then you will have something that will burn your pockets. Oh not to mention battery life ...sweet merciful jesus, there goes my pocket pc battery life ...5 minutes running time with 1 gb hdd. plus panasonic is about to come out with a 1 gb SD card, no moving parts there either. |

Soda ...I've actually had my hands on a Table PC last week, and if you want to wait for it, it will be worth it. I'm thinking about getting rid of my Toshiba laptop for one of those device.
