Oracle takes on Lotus, MS Exchange | |

Oracle is taking on Microsoft and IBM with new e-mail, calendar and messaging software. The company's newly released software lets businesses manage e-mail, voice mail and scheduling, as well as hold Web-based meetings and allow employees to sync their information to wireless handheld devices. It includes software, called Oracle Files, for managing different kinds of content, including audio, video, e-mail and Microsoft Word documents. | ||

I won't hold my breath on that one. I doubt that Oracle will steal much from IBM or Microsoft. I do hope that Microsoft will be spurred to continue with the great things it has already done with Exchange. |

BobSmith... from the looks of things, it seems like the majority of development for Exchange since 2000 has been put towards the successor to Titanium. For three years' time, it doesn't seem like Titanium is offering a great deal over Exchange 2000.... <sigh> But, I think that the successor to Titanium will be quite a leap forward.
That said, I'm excited about the inclusion of Mobile Information Server and other wireless functionality in Titanium, instead of as separate add-ons. :) |

I was getting the feeling that "Titanium" was a point release for Exchange. From a dev (3rd party, i mean) perspective this is probably good, since the Exchange datastore will likely be completely replaced in "Titanium's" successor based on the "Yukon" datastore.
The inclusion of MIS is really cool. |
