#5: Not all the time.
First, Apple back in the 80's and 90's would give computers to anyone who would feature them in any type of mass-media work such as pictures for newspapers and magazines, movies, TV shows, etc.
Second, most of the producers and media people use Macs, and since Mac people are typically devoted zealots, they want to promote their poor choice and choose to use Macs as props for shows and movies
Third, Apple pays some of them, such as the Real World(tm) on MTV.
I would guess that a small minority of the Macs you see on TV and Movies are paid product placements. Especially the ones with the logo removed or slightly obscurred.

Come on, I love seeing the oldschool iBooks in my Digimon (with pineapple logo), and it just wouldn't be Digimon without the anime iBooks!!

#4,
This is common practice in movies and television. It's done to all sorts of computers, not just Apple's.

JVM: 10yrs, first of all, Win95 improved the Windows UI a great deal both asthetically and usability... that's about 8yrs old, then on top of that XP supports skinning, and has been improved a great deal both asthetically and in usability.
Finally, there is more to a UI than just how pretty it is, which is only about 40% of a good UI.

Basically, yes, it looks the same, however, asthetically (as is what you were talking about), it has changed quite a bit. Not only asthetically, but from a usability standpoint, it has changed quite a bit, with it's "task-based" interface.

Well, first, just chaning the icons and buttons does make it more asthetically pleasing... look up the word asthetics.... but also Windows now natively supports skinning, and even comes with four of them.
The task-panes are there to help you, and in some things, helps quite a bit once you get used to them, howver, you can turn them off, first, turn it off like normal, then go to tools>folder options>view tab> click apply to all folders.

TechLarry, actually, most of the time they use Apple hardware (usually notebooks).

There are 3 styles to the so called "Luna" skin, and there is the old Windows style, and then you can download other styles from www.themexp.org

JWM - You ever seen the old Fords and the new Fords. Same interface ( steering wheel and pedals). Like CPUGuy should have said :) , "if it ain't broke don't fix it"
