Office 11 Beta Acceptance Letters Go Out | |

We've just received word that at least some of the Office 11 beta acceptance letters have gone out to lucky testers. We don't know if this is all of them for now, or if there will be more acceptance letters for this wave coming out soon, but we wanted to pass this along. Here is the email: We are writing to let you know that you have been accepted into the Office 11 Individual Evaluation Program for the upcoming Office 11 beta this Fall! You will be hearing more about the beta soon, but we wanted to keep you informed about your status in the program. We’re very excited about this next version of Office and think you will be also. Thank you for your interest in providing feedback on our products, and taking time to be involved in this way. | ||

Any information related to Office 11 is currently under NDA. I am sure you will find leaks eventually though, so be sure to keep an eye out! Since I am under NDA, I won't be able to reveal that information either. |

Since I have been on the alpha (JDP - Joint Developers Program), I am well versed as to what is and isn't in the next Office :-) Sorry to burst your bubble ;-) BTW, yes, I am a team player...the reason for that is you will go much further in life, and in future MS alphas/betas :-) This post was edited by Brian_MS_MVP on Tuesday, September 17, 2002 at 13:38. |

That sould be a very good guess. since I do believe that it has publically been mentioned by that name by MS people. Things we know about Office that have been leaked or released depending how you want to look at it. It will contain parts of Trinity. Which is the beginning of the transition to Ofice being based in the framework. But it is unclear how far it goes. Part of the work in Whidby is to make VB.net more easilty transitioned to from vb6 and rumor has that the big drive on that is VBS and VBA move in the office community. There will be a scipting engine based in the framework. It sounds like some of the GUI for some of the platform will move to being based in the framework. (purely speculation at this point) The big change will not happen until LH that is for sure and office 12. BTW I am not on the Office Beta, these are from news reports and other information that MS has released either at PDC or Financial reports or Road Maps for other projects. El |

Feel free to email me and I can provide you with proof of me being a JDP. The reason I have been accepted into the JDP program, and part of the alpha services is because I am a commercial printer. There are a list of commercial printers that are offered the advanced JDP program because of the EARLY required feedback in the development of Microsoft Publisher and it's commercial printing tools. From the Pantone information to cmyk/rgb usage feedback, Microsoft needs this info early in development. Microsoft does not have any RIP machines or commercial printers inhouse so we "commercial printers" luck out there. And once you are on the JDP for Publisher, that carries into Office due to the tight integration of the feature sets, Escher tools, and compatiblity issues when commercial printing. A substantial amount of feedback on Microsoft and server and office products also comes from the Joint Development Partner (JDP) program, a group of about two dozen large corporations and a handful of smaller business organizations that focus on early live deployment of Windows and Office in lab or production environments (ie Commerical Printers). No offense taken. I just thought that was funny since I began my software career as a professional tester. Quite often I prefer testing to programming.
Also, I think you wrong about Red. He is certainly technically competent. I know one thing, though, I'm jealous! |

#26 Why do you think that RedAvenger doesn't know what bug testing means? I can agree with some of his postings and disagree with others but this is a matter of opinions; besides his posts counting proof his dedication which, IMO, is fundamental when beta testing.
