Microsoft has release Windows XP Service Pack 1 to it's Premier Support site - the thing is, it doesn't require any passwords what so ever so anyone can download it officially from the Microsoft Premier Support Site at this URL. How long this will last without a password we don't know.

Yipee! Now an offtopic question, when do Media Services 9 go gold?

#3 By 3 (62.253.128.4) at 9/3/2002 8:16:38 AM

Thanks Byron. I had a horrible experience with an almost beta 1 build this weekend. It played files and was nice and pretty, but it killed even the 6.4 ActiveX control from playing in the browser. I was quite upset that I couldn't watch a Microsoft Seminar on XML development in .NET. I'll wait till WMP9 goes gold before I install it again.

The link is still live for me.

The link was officially pulled at 8:30am EST by Mircosoft Premier Support Division and has been reposted under a secure server.

Great links. Download speed seems good.
Got error 403 access forbidden, try again and it works.

Why haven't they learned from past experience?

#10 By 2201 (212.117.228.131) at 9/3/2002 8:57:40 AM
Still works. Thank God for GetRight! ;)

Yep, you're right. Ah well...

How long have you been running it to know that it improved your stability? Or was your system so very unstable before?

I'm running it now, and I don't see a difference (other than the "Service Pack 1" when I goto Help | About.

Anyone have a mirror site?

If anyone actually got this, what's the CRC or MD5 value of the file? A nice MD5 tool is here:

#30 The tool at you the link you posted gives this value ecf625f6563dfcaeeecc4b1481899d4b
for xpsp1_en_x86.exe. Also, still get the save file dialog box when I click the link to the exe. I assume this means that it is still up and not password protected.

#32, whether it's Corporate or not shouldn't matter (unless it's the one with the stolen key...). Here's a pretty comprehensive guide to burning slipstreamed, bootable CDs: http://www.justinwojas.com/bootcd.htm

#34 - they are all the same - its just the MS has forgot or hasn't bothered to password control their premier site.

#33, thanks. Yup, indeed the same as the is-it-or-isn't-it 1106 that leaked about a week ago. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. In this case it is.

I don't see why everybody is so excited about getting a service pack. If it were beta 1 of Longhorn or a point release to XP, I can see the excitement. Maybe someone can explain why this has received so much press and is so terribly interesting to everybody.

#47, how fast is your connection?

Not that I have it anyway, just curious.

This seems to be yet another false alarm ?

I went to the Premier Site (yes, I have full legal access) and it is STILL not listed.

I know a guy that is on the beta program, and he just started downloading it from the beta server, so, I should have it within an hour or so. If someone has a site, I'll be happy to upload it. As long as the site is fast, and it is made public so everyone else can get it too.

asdasdasd - Well I can certainly understand waiting... I usually wait a few weeks as well.

But I'm curious about your comment "all the fixes are already available!", as that's never been true in the past.

Just get eDonkey2000 at www.edonkey2000.com, install it and search for "SP1 1106"
Enjoy !
