Microsoft unit bungles details on its OS X applications | |

Microsoft is every Mac user's favorite punching bag, and it's less deserved now than ever. The Redmond company's applications for the Mac OS X are superb and shipped as early as they could. They have been improved regularly since their releases. They set a standard for OS X software. So why does Microsoft remain at the bottom of the dog pile? A lack of attention to detail. The small pieces that connect programs, coupled with a failure to fix long-standing problems, are at the root of the anger. Office v. X, the Macintosh Business Unit's (MacBU) OS X-only update, included optimized versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint and a rewritten version of Entourage that I've previously praised for its simple, easy-to-use connection of contacts, calendar and e-mail. | ||

OK... I can see why this guy would complain but the fact still remains.
MS got their software ported as fast, if not faster than everybody else. Its still the most robust productivity suite on the Mac... though I just use AppleWorks because I don't need much. |

| Mac users should be happy with any piece of software they get. At 4% of the market, they're borderline niche. |

Man, it's thick in here :)
Anyway, #1, Office V.X is not a port. Microsoft did that ONE time with Office 6, and they'll never do it again. It was a complete and utter disaster. Office V.X is a ground-up true Mac application. And it's quite good too. It's considered the best of all Office Versions by many. TL |

Correction on my part, that was Office 4.2, which included Word 6, etc...
