Voodoo Extreme have news about an update by Holocron on the offical forums for Verant's Star Wars Galaxies. He covers topics ranging from player housing to PvP. Here's a bit: Actually we had player-designed houses in the design at one point, before concluding that we were insane. See, in UO it's moderately easy to do in that the houses are already built out of tiles and pieces. Our structures are built wholesale as single objects, because that was what we needed to do in order to make the game look like Star Wars (try some of the curvy architecture in a tile-based system!). So long ago, with regret, we backed off from the idea of player-designed layouts. However, I'm still a huge fan of the concept, and would be heavily in favor of resurrecting it someday. There would definitely be code required, and there would also need to be a ton of art created. | ||
