Microsoft's .Net cozies up to Oracle | |

Microsoft, hoping to broaden the appeal of its .Net software plan, is improving links between its products and those of rival Oracle. The new connecting software, released Tuesday, will link Microsoft's .Net Framework to Oracle's database software. The .Net Framework--a crucial piece in Microsoft's .Net Web services software strategy--simplifies and automates many software development tasks and helps software run across multiple servers and computers. Because the .Net Framework has pre-written software code, it can save developers time and eliminate bugs that can occur in building software, Microsoft asserts. | ||

| This is nothing new. Mircosoft did the same thing in OLE DB -- wrote a OLE DB privider for Oracle before Oracle releases their own and in most cases still works better than the one offered by Oracle. However, Microsoft always offer a special interface in its SQL server driver to speed up things like bulk data upload up to 10 times faster than any Oracle database. |

| Nah, this can't be true... this isn't "leveraging their desktop monopoly to promote the exclusive use of other Microsoft software" (in this case SQL Server). ;) |

| On Win-tel platform, Orcale can not compete with SQL server at all. |
