Microsoft: 41 Percent of Exchange Customers on Exchange 2000 | |

Microsoft is finally getting comfortable enough with its Exchange 2000 market adoption to trumpet some numbers. Since the launch of Exchange 2000 Server almost two years ago, Microsoft has refused to disclose the percentage of its installed base that has made the jump to the latest version of its messaging platform. That changed this week when Redmond highlighted a study by the Radicati Group that estimated that as many as 41 percent of Exchange customers were now using Exchange 2000. | ||

mOOzilla, if you read the article, you will find that "this number" (41 percent) is based on actual users. Microsoft already knew how many licenses it sold, so the only point to the Radicati Group's study was to determine actual adoption.
I'm not defending the accuracy of the number, but they do make it clear that the claimed number is based on actual rollouts. |

| JaggedFlame you should also point out that by using Exchange 200 they are also using Active Directory. So that means thos %41 percent also had to have the money to create at least on AD domain, if they did not roll out AD to the whole Enterprise. That is what holds my company and there 22,000 Exchange users back from Exhchange 2000, the company still can not justify the expense of moving 100+ domains over to one AD Domain so that is most likely why the %59 are not there yet. |

| 41%? Sounds high to me. I'm not sure how anyone could characterize this as anything but success. |

Yup the AD requirement is the primary reason we have chosen not to upgrade from 5.5 as well. There were a few more issues last year but ms solved almost all with the exchange srvc packs... no they need to ditch the AD requirement.. lol. I think that was a pretty stupid move on MS's part 2 years ago to do that.. in doing it they limited the products success to the adobtion rate of AD... dumb, since we all know not everyone is all that eager to move to AD.
