While ``renting a video'' has become a habit for movie lovers wanting to enjoy a film in the comfort of their homes, over the past few years the popularity of DVDs has exploded. And on a special edition of ``Ebert & Roeper and the Movies'' entitled ``Bells & Whistles,'' airing in national syndication the weekend of Dec. 2-3, 2000, film critics Roger Ebert and Richard Roeper reveal the many tantalizing extra features -- the bells and whistles -- that come with most discs. For fans of digital video discs -- better known as DVDs -- great picture and sound are the best-known advantages of the format.
