Digital photography is pushing computer printers to produce better color and resolution even as printer prices continue to drop, although analysts said consumers cannot expect the same of ink and paper, which are improving in terms of quality but remain expensive. In addition to lower printer prices and better image quality, consumers will benefit from increased printer capabilities, including the ability to connect to 802.11 wireless networks at home and in the office. Printers also are becoming more capable of communicating directly with other devices -- such as handhelds and digital cameras -- rather than relying on PCs for connectivity. And the latest handheld printers, including models from Sony (NYSE: SNE - news) and SiPix, provide printing on the go. | ||
