This fall, the new 4-CD box set The Jimi Hendrix Experience was released to critical and public acclaim, swiftly becoming the must-have holiday gift on every good music lover's wish list. Now certified Gold by the RIAA, the lavish set has established itself as an instant rock classic. Continuing their established tradition of producing quality Jimi Hendrix titles, Experience Hendrix/MCA Records will release an expanded version of the classic film, ``Jimi Hendrix: Experience,'' in DVD and VHS formats. Originally produced for British television in 1968, the 85-minute film contains close to an hour of newly-assembled classic footage, including previously unreleased performance and promotional material. ``Jimi Hendrix: Experience'' will be released February 13.
The acclaimed ``Jimi Hendrix: Experience'' program features a high-speed mix of commentary, interviews with Hendrix and his original Experience bandmates Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding, and unforgettable live television and concert performances, including the newly-added, never-before-released live 1967 performances of ``The Wind Cries Mary'' and ``Purple Haze'' for the ``Popside'' Swedish television program, live 1969 performances of ``Spanish Castle Magic,'' ``Red House,'' and ``Sunshine of Your Love'' for the ``Number Nine'' Swedish television program, and a blistering live performance of ``Wild Thing'' captured October 9, 1967 at the Olympia in Paris during one of the Experience's first public performances. The added content also includes classic promotional spots, including the original clip produced to promote the hit single ``Hey Joe'' and the original promotional film for ``Freedom.'' The contemporary music video for ``Dolly Dagger,'' produced in 1997 in conjunction with the Experience Hendrix/MCA Records release of ``First Rays of the New Rising Sun,'' rounds out the new additions to the ``Jimi Hendrix: Experience'' film.
