Dell Windows 95 "End-of-Life" FAQ Posted
Time: 15:08 EST/20:08 GMT | News Source: ActiveWin.com | Posted By: Robert Stein

As we reported earlier this week, Compaq has stopped supporting Windows 95. Well, so has Dell. Check this out:

Microsoft® Windows 95, introduced five years ago, has been succeeded by five subsequent desktop operating systems including Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows NT® 4.0, Windows 2000, and most recently Windows Millennium Edition.

Beginning January 01, 2001, Dell is no longer licensed to factory install Windows 95 as an OEM product. Microsoft will only make Windows 95 available through its "OEM Distribution Channel" which includes new systems purchased from smaller PC manufacturers, value added resellers, system integrators, and others.
