  Microsoft to Release GameVoice 1.2 Tomorrow

We have received word, that Microsoft, should release sometime tomorrow the new public beta version 1.2 of GameVoice for its outstanding game device, the SideWinder GameVoice. This new exciting release comes with several improvements like:

  • Full compatibility with Windows 2000. With DirectX 8 for soundcard support, the GV 1.2 update will allow voice commands to work with all games. (No new UI elements, voice commands "just work")
  • Keyboard push to talk for chat and keyboard activation for voice commands. You still select channels from the puck, but the actual transmission of your voice is paused until you press a button (user configurable) on the keyboard. Also, a user selectable button on the keyboard can be used just like the Command button on the puck.
  • Better keyboard injection. In addition to Windows 2000 compatibility, the keyboard injection for voice commands has been improved to work with more games. We've confirmed that these changes allow games such as NOX and Jane's F-18 Flight Simulator to recognize voice commands more reliably than they did before. (No UI elements, "just works").
  • American English and International English profiles can be shared. Increases the audience for the Profile Packs we have on the web site.
  • Other miscellaneous bug fixes and improvements. Game Voice will no longer trigger Internet auto-dial on startup. Applying the GV 1.2 patch should not cause loss of access to the Command tab.
  • This release obviously contains all the enhancement brought by the GameVoice 1.1 release.
