A lesson in innovation from Apple's first interface trial
Time: 05:32 EST/10:32 GMT | News Source: ZDNet | Posted By: Robert Stein

For longtime watchers and users in the Mac market, last week's verdict feels like a bit of payback. Yet, the history offers a bit of hope that there's more than one way to paint a GUI. It's hard to imagine now, but there was a time when the only GUI computer on the market was the Macintosh (okay, and maybe the Lisa, later known as the Mac XL). Programs associated today with the Microsoft Windows platform such as Word and Excel started out on the Mac platform.
