  Using Windows 7 & Server 2008 R2’s Compatibility Mode
Time: 14:25 EST/19:25 GMT | News Source: Microsoft | Posted By: Kenneth van Surksum

If you are like us, we are always on the cutting edge (what do you expect – we work for Microsoft ) and because of this we have to often find unusual methods to work around the fact that OEM’s are not always “up to speed” and releasing installers and such that are for operating systems that are still in beta.

Because of this, many of you might find yourself scratching your head when you attempt to update your client or server hardware using the OEMs installation file (*.msi or *.exe). In this post, I want to share a couple of examples of where I was able to successfully get around this using a pretty “unknown” piece of functionality in Windows 7 or Server 2008 R2.
