Apple tweaks Software Updater following criticism | |

Following the huge backlash (Techmeme) that erupted in the wake Apples decision to push Safari to all Windows users via the Apple Software Updater, the company has made some tweaks to the UI in an attempt to improve matters. At the core of the redesign is a separation of software updates from new products in Windows Apple Software Update 2.1 (2.1.0.110 to be precise). On the down side, Apple continues to push Safari to Windows users and continues to pre-check the download. However, users [won't] be bothered by prompts for new software downloads unless the Apple Software Update application is run manually. Only software updates will trigger a nag screen - but since were talking about an updater that covers QuickTime here, users are still going to see plenty of nags. | ||
