Microsoft counts on partners to legalize more pirated Windows XP copies
Time: 00:09 EST/05:09 GMT | News Source: TG Daily | Posted By: Kenneth van Surksum

Microsoft today introduced a new anti-piracy initiative that enlists the help of the company's partners to encourage their customers to move from pirated versions of Windows XP to legal copies. Called "Get Genuine Windows Agreement (GGWA)", the new program allows businesses to obtain legal licenses through the volume licensing program offered through their reseller.

Microsoft told its partners that "one third of all the packaged software installed on PCs worldwide is pirated", which "represents up to $40 billion annually that could be earned [additionally]." GGWA also opens new revenue opportunities such as up-selling volume licenses and providing consulting service, Microsoft said. The availability of GGWA is limited to corporate customers only.
