  Apple purchases rights to CUPS

While it's not a feature that gets touted much anymore, printing is an important component of any operating system. On OS X, printing has been handed by one of the better-known printing systems, the Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) ever since the 10.2 release. CUPS is considered to be one of the (if not the) best Unix printing solutions, and has been helping beef up OS X's printing capabilities since Apple began licensing the code in 2002. And now, after a few years of successful CUPS use and integration, Apple is investing even more in the system.
