Microsoft PatchGuard is new technology built into Windows Vista that prevents unauthorized applications from "patching" the Windows Kernel. This adds another layer of security into Windows Vista on top of such security features such as Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR). How PatchGuard works is it prevents kernel-mode drivers from writing or replacing things on the Windows Kernel. 3rd Party software cannot patch the Kernel in Windows Vista. | ||
