When it comes to connecting high-definition sets and components to achieve the best performance possible, HDMI is the way to go. Although some might argue that the performance of HDMI cables is not much (if at all) better than component cables, having the digital video and audio on one wire cuts down on cabling messes (and helps those of us who have trouble distinguishing colors).
