Last weekend Microsoft held Xbox preview events in Akihabara and Osaka, Japan. Specifically, in preparation for the console's release later this month, Microsoft provided playable kiosks of launch titles for all attendees. Moreover, Microsoft representatives including director Hirohisa Oura appeared at the events to speak with attendees. According to Oura-san, players were generally impressed with the Xbox, which reinforces excitement surroudning the console's launch in Japan. While advertising has been relaitvely minimal thus far, online preorders have been extremely strong. Between the Akihabara and Osaka venues an estimated 15,000 people participated in the event last weekend. For reference, the Xbox is expected to hit Japanese shelves on February 22.
