Inside the control room of the jointly produced olympics.com and nbcolympics.com, the idea of the Internet and TV converging doesn't seem so theoretical. The MSNBC producers create both olympics.com and nbcolympics.com, largely similar except that the NBC site puts more emphasis on U.S. athletes. As the U.S. men swept the snowboard halfpipe Monday, the win was quickly featured on NBC's home page -- and German luger Georg Hackl stayed center stage on olympics.com. (But consumer input isn't abstract: Monitors show 28,110 users logged on to the Olympic site and 19,244 to NBC's.)
