Firmware version 1.42.3 is the first public release that supports Universal Plug and Play (UPnP). Many people requested this feature so they could send files and voice chat on MSN Messenger behind the router.
Release notes:
- Some settings aren't kept from a upgrade from 1.40 to 1.42.3
- UPnP is enabled by default.
- MTU is added to the filters tab and enabled by default with 1492.
- Port forwarding is MAJORLY upgraded with customized applications boxes, along with being able to manually set UPnP port forwarding.
- DHCP tab allows you to set client lease times and also to give those DHCP clients specific DNS/WINS servers to forward to.-Router can support PCs with small MTU settings to configure the router.
- Supports Applying settings without rebooting (Password, DHCP, MAC Filter, Forwarding, DMZ, MAC Addr.Clone)
- Added DNS and WINS setting in DHCP User Interface page.
- Support for UPnP forwarding loopback

Linksys strongly recommends that you use the default LAN IP address of 192.168.1.1. Some MSN Messenger users may experience difficulties using other LAN IP addresses, for instance 10.0.0.1.
