Anyone who doubts the power of communication from a corporation's top levels should witness the impact of Bill Gates' "trustworthy computing" memo to Microsoft employees this month. Gates called for computing to be as trustworthy and worry-free as running water or using a telephone, and directed the company to focus on security first in its products -- before considering new features. The result? Security is the dominant theme at Microsoft and the buzz around the industry. Executives and product groups across the company have taken a unified stand: as an industry leader, it is incumbent upon Microsoft to prioritize security, set higher security standards and work to make its products the safest available. | ||
