In the oft-blurred roadmap to economic recovery, does XP mark the spot? We're now officially less than two months away from the scheduled debut of Microsoft's newest operating system, Windows XP. With promised stability and new gizmos -- like the Task Manager, previously only available on the NT software -- remote assistance and an enhanced Start menu, it looks to be a seriously checked-off wish list for the novice and aficionado alike. While legal obstacles -- not the typical bug-stomping software development ones -- stand in the way of the planned Oct. 26 launch date, the souped-up XP has plenty of bells and whistles to send personal computer users scrambling to upgrade their systems. | ||
