Ecma International began the technical work Thursday 15 December 2005 to standardize the Office Open XML File Formats. TC45, the Ecma technical committee organized to create the Ecma document format standard, held its first meeting in Brussels, Belgium. The standard will be based on an initial 2000 page draft technical specification submitted by Apple, Barclays Capital, BP, the British Library, Essilor, Intel Corporation, Microsoft, NextPage Inc., Statoil ASA and Toshiba. This initial submission is available for interested parties to download [Click the headline text]. The final specification, which the technical committee hopes to complete before the end of next year, is expected to be two to three times that size.
Also, C++/CLI was approved as Ecma standard ECMA-372 on December 9, 2005. | ||
