With its appeal against the EU's antitrust ruling facing likely delays, the software giant is taking aim at increasingly pesky open-source rivals Microsoft is stepping up its efforts to better compete with Linux and other open-source rivals, just as a resolution of the antitrust case that could give its rivals ammunition appears headed for delays. The reason: An increase in the size of the panel of European Union judges hearing the case.
