Savvy Santas Can Save All Year Round with Energy Star(R) | |

In the midst of a recession, savvy shoppers are finding great bargains for everyone on their list. As ``sale searching'' continues, Energy Star is reminding shoppers that many popular gift ideas can save money all year round, while also helping the environment. In the average home, 90 percent of all electricity used to power most electronics is consumed after the products are turned off. Americans waste more than $1 billion every year to power home audio and video products that are turned off. CD players in the U.S. use enough electricity when turned off to power the Las Vegas strip for six months. By switching to Energy Star labeled products, as much as 75 percent of this waste can be eliminated. And that means a lot less air pollution, for a cleaner environment. When checking the following products off your shopping list this season, look for the Energy Star label.
