Brazil's finance ministry accused Microsoft on Thursday of violating a law protecting competition and recommended the software giant be fined. The ministry claimed that Microsoft monopolized the sale of software to the government by letting just one company to handle all the transactions. In Brazil's federal district, the only place where a single vendor was designated to handle all sales, the price of certain Microsoft products was as much as four times higher than in the rest of the country, the ministry said in a press statement. It didn't divulge the actual prices charged. | ||
