Thanks Bruce. "MandrakeSoft, the makers of the Mandrake Linux distribution, has warned users that the latest release, 9.2, could damage some LG-based CD-ROMs. In an advisory posted on its site, the company said the error scenario being encountered by some users was that of installing 9.2 and getting an error message that said "unable to install the base system" with a subsequent reboot revealing that the CD-ROM drive was physically dead.
