Dell Corp. resumed shipments of its Axim X5 personal digital assistants late last week after finding and fixing a firmware glitch. Dell had ceased all X5 shipments on July 17. The chief problem was a conflict between Dell’s own software and Microsoft Pocket PC 2003, which comes preloaded on the Axim X5. (Click for July 17 GCN story) The company had to fix its firmware code. The full fix, which Dell calls a ROM update, will be posted on the company’s Web site, at www.support.dell.com, by tomorrow.
