Because of overwhelming negative fan reaction to the full-frame colorized atrocity they released last January, Disney is re-releasing the Fred MacMurray classic The Absent-Minded Professor with a new black & white anamorphic widescreen transfer. The disc is due September 2nd and retails $19.99.

September 2 is also the date for some classic Disney family films to arrive in special edition DVDs.

The Apple Dumpling Gang will include an audio commentary with stars Tim Conway, Don Knotts, Susan Clark, and Brad Savage; the featurettes "A Look Back with the Gang," "Conversations with Tim Conway," "Lost Treasures: The Disney Back Lot," and "Disney's Rootin' Tootin' Cowboy Heroes"; "Two Gun Goofy" animated short; still galleries; and the 1975 Studio Album; trailers.

Return From Witch Mountain also includes a commentary with Eisenmann, Richards and Hough, plus the featurettes "Making the Return Trip," "The Gang's Back in Town," "Disney's Kids with Powers," and "Lost Treasures: Christopher Lee - The Lost Interview"; "The Eyes Have It" animated short; 1978 Studio Album; and trailers.

All come with new anamorphic transfers, Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks, and retail for $24.99 each.
