A decision by the world's largest software maker to pay a bigger dividend could put pressure on other blue-chip companies in the technology sector to do the same, observers say. Microsoft Corp. of Redmond, Wash., is considering increasing the dividend it will pay shareholders, the Financial Times of London has reported, citing unidentified sources close to the company. The Times said Microsoft's board is considering declaring a special one-time dividend of as much as $10-billion (U.S.). If true, that amount would be the single largest payment in history. | ||
