Sony has released a new firmware for their dual format DVD writers. 2.0e brings the 500A/UL and 500AX/ULX lines up to the same firmware release. Updating to this new firmware brings the following features:

  • Allows your Dual RW drive to record at 4X on 4X compatible DVD+R media.
    (Previously added in 1.0f firmware for 500A/UL and in 2.0c for 500AX/ULX)
  • Improves reading and writing performance and reliability.
  • Reduces vibration noise for the discs with unbalance or eccentricity.
The new firmware can be downloaded from Sony's Storage Support web site.
