Corel Corp. could be sold after an "unusual" transaction is completed that will see rival Microsoft Corp. transfer its stake in the Canadian software maker to a U.S. venture capital firm, industry observers say.
Microsoft, Corel's largest investor and the world's No. 1 software maker, will sell its 22.9 million Corel preferred shares to Vector Capital, a San Francisco-based venture capital firm, by March 24.
