This news is a bit old, but does this mean Sony is going for an Xbox Live-like system? It certainly sounds like it. Butterfly.net will start supporting Sony's PlayStation 2 online push. Butterfly.net was set up in 2000 to provide software, known as the Butterfly Grid, for massive-multiplayer online games (MMOGs). The company's technology allows for huge scalability and performance, and does not rely on a server-oriented system. Instead, resources are allocated based on which are the most populated and popular games at any one time. This is an instantaneous system as well, meaning resources will shift instantly as different games get more or less popular. | ||
