In the 1959 film "The Mouse That Roared," a small nation declares a feeble war on the United States in order to lose and be offered the same bounty that Germany and Japan received after World War II. The invaders, armed with longbows, accidentally win the war and must face the hassles of victory instead of the spoils of defeat. Over Apple Computer's and Microsoft's nearly 25-year history of coexistence and competition, Apple has often been the mouse that roared, charging again and again at fortress Microsoft, partly to contrast its hip, rebel attitude and cool toys with Microsoft's suit-and-tie market and blue screen of death. | ||
