Just announced from Buena Vista Home Entertainment is the latest batch of classic catalog titles, all streeting on March 13th. Leading the pack is - at long last - a new two-disc collector's edition of the 1954 classic 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Complete with a newly-remastered, THX-certified 2.35;1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround remix, extras are plentiful: New audio commentaries by director Richard Fleischer and classic film historian Rudy Behlmer, "The Making Of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea," "Jules Verne & Walt Disney - Explorers Of The Imagination," "The Humboltsquid: Real Sea Monster!", "Touring The Natuilus," "Monsters Of The Deep," "The Musical Legacy Of Paul Smith" and "Lost Treasure: The Sunset Squid Sequence" featurettes, a glimpse at the post-production with Peter Lorre's ADR tracks and the original Captain Nemo's organ music, a storyboard-to-screen comparison, unused animations, "Nemo's Death" script excerpt, a "Grand Canyonscope" animated short, the theatrical trailer, and the original 1954 theatrical radio spots. Retail is $29.95.
More Disney fun on due on the 13th includes the direct-to-video sequel Atlantis: Milo's Return, presented in family-friend 1.66:1 anamorphic widescreen and 5.1, and also includes an alternate ending and the "Spear of Destiny" game. For horror fans comes "The terrifying sequel to Dracula 2000!", Dracula II: Ascension. This one is presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital and DTS. Last but not least we have the animated The Incredible Hulk, featuring the origin of Bruce Banner. Presented in full screen, extras include an audio commentary by Stan Lee, an interview with award-winning "Hulk" writer Peter David, and a bonus episode. Retail is $29.95 for all of the above.
