Toshiba says its new Satellite 1110 and 1115 are ideal for first-time notebook buyers on tight budgets, while Fujitsu PC Corp. says veteran laptop luggers will appreciate switching to its newest light-but-loaded LifeBook S. The Satellite 1115-S103 is just $1,099 with a 1.5GHz Intel Celeron processor, 256MB of SDRAM, 20GB hard disk, DVD-ROM drive, and a 14.1-inch, active-matrix display; the Windows XP Home Edition laptop lacks a floppy drive, but modem and Ethernet ports and three USB 1.1 ports are standard. For $1,249, the Satellite 1110-S153 adds not only a floppy but a faster 1.8GHz Celeron, as well as Windows XP Professional. | ||
