Review: Wipeout 2097 (Mac OS 9.1, OS X) | |

Fast vehicles that fire missiles, have energy shields, and don't touch the ground are cool. Personally, if I had a top 10 list of things that were really cool, fast, energy-shielded, missile-firing, racing hovercraft would definitely be somewhere on that list. (Probably about #5 or so.) And judging from the rather immense amount of fast racing hovercraft games out there, like F-Zero, Aero Gauge, Star Wars Pod Racer, and the Wipeout series, it's pretty safe to say that the general gaming population agrees with me. Consequently, when I heard that an installment from the Wipeout series that I liked so much on the PlayStation was coming over to the Mac, I had pretty high hopes. It was like little magical fairies, or Santa Claus, if you will, made real the #5 entry on my imaginary top 10 list of things that are really cool. |
