An appeals court will soon rule whether Microsoft is an illegal monopoly that should be split in two. But that has not sidetracked Chairman Bill Gates from forging ahead with a plan to dominate the market for Web services. Gates, who is also Microsoft's chief software architect, has ceded much of the day-to-day management of the company to Chief Executive Steve Ballmer. But it's clear that he still sets Microsoft's agenda. | ||
