Thanks Rommel. Japanese wireless network carrier NTT DoCoMo will begin selling a handheld device in Japan this fall using Microsoft's Pocket PC 2002 operating system. The device, called the musea, will have organizer functions and will be able to be able to send and receive data over NTT DoCoMo's third-generation FOMA wireless service. Musea will come with 64MB of memory, a 3.5-inch color display, and a 206MHz Intel StrongArm processor. It will be available for sale on Sept. 9.

NTT DoCoMo joins a slowly growing list of network carriers that have plans to release devices that can access wireless networks. T-Mobile announced on Thursday that it is selling a handheld using Microsoft's Pocket PC 2002 OS that combines cell phone and organizer features and lets customers wirelessly surf the Web and send and receive e-mail. AT&T Wireless said Wednesday that, as part of a larger partnership with Microsoft, it will deliver similar to T-Mobile's in the fourth quarter. The T-Mobile and AT&T Wireless devices both use Microsoft's Pocket PC Phone Edition software, but NTT DoCoMo's does not. NTT DoCoMo representatives did not return calls for comment.
