Circuit City Sees Windows XP Lifting PC Sales | |

Consumer electronics retailer Circuit City Stores Inc on Wednesday said it expects Microsoft Corp's launch of the Windows XP operating system to breathe life into sagging personal computer sales because older models will not be able to run the program. ``Our expectation is that it (Windows XP) will be a big boost to the category,'' Alan McCollough, chief executive of Circuit City, told analysts on a conference call. McCollough said computers that are over two years old will likely not be able to run the program. Windows XP is scheduled for an October launch and Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates told Reuters last week he expects the system to drive demand for hardware. | ||
