Apple has 91% of market for $1,000+ PCs, says NPD | |

Move over Microsoft. Apple can claim big, big market share numbers, too. According to NPD, in June, nine out of 10 dollars spent on computers costing $1,000 or more went to Apple. Mac revenue market share in the "premium" price segment was 91 percent, up from 88 percent in May. By the way, Apple's command of the premium market is way up from first quarter 2008, when, according to NPD, Mac revenue share was 66 percent. Gee, and it seemed so high when I broke that story. | ||

" Even though I think Apple still does this better, I do not totally disagree with this. Starting in 1984, Apple really, REALLY had it right. All the human interface design and testing they did. The establishment of the Mac Bible (Inside Macintosh - Volumes 1 thru 6000 :)), and really getting on the cases of developers that did not follow the Mac guidelines. Back then, being an Apple Dev really meant something. I hate to say it, but this all seems to have been tossed out the window about the time MacOS X came about. MacOS 9 was the last of the truly coherent MAC applications. Whether it was due to Cocoa, NextStep, or whatever I don't know but the Mac lost a lot of it's cohesiveness during this transition. Like I said, it's still the best there is, but the real shine got rubbed off about the time MacOS X hit the streets. IMHO This post was edited by TechLarry on Monday, July 27, 2009 at 09:11. |
