Microsoft Corp. today announced a donation of nearly $36,000 to the Community Equity Empowerment Partnership (CEEP), a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization committed to excellence in education through technology and leadership development. The donation will benefit CEEP’s Tom Skinner Club House, a program that provides technical and vocational job training to children and teens not currently enrolled in school. Corey Griffin, contracts manager at Microsoft, announced the donation this afternoon at the CEEP Dream2Destiny Youth Opportunity (YO!) Summit at the Hart Senate Office Building. City officials, community leaders and congressional staff members attended the announcement.

"This donation will help expand opportunities for young people through technology," Griffin said. "Microsoft is proud to support CEEP in its important work to empower the young people of Washington, D.C." Microsoft is providing a $6,000 monetary donation toward the purchase of computers for the Tom Skinner Club House, in Anacostia. In addition, Microsoft is providing nearly $30,000 in software for 10 workstations at the club house, including licenses for Microsoft® Office XP Professional, FrontPage® 2002, Microsoft Project 2000, Publisher 2002, Visio® 2002, Visual Studio® 6.0 Professional, Encarta® Reference Library 2002, Microsoft IntelliMouse® 3.0 Serial and PS2 Version 2 and Microsoft Natural® Keyboard Elite.
