Business Week is reporting tonight that Apple and Microsoft are in talks to replace Google as the default search engine on the iPhone with Bing, as Apple and Google become increasingly more competitive. | ||

awww I thought it was a really nice sarcastic comment that addressed #1's comment perfectly... and then it turned out to be spam :(
Good luck to them - at the end of the day it's all about the mighty dollar... but be rest assured that the Apple faithful at least will kick up a major shitstorm if it's not a simple matter of switching back to Google. As for the rest of us, we'll switch it back ourselves - Apple created the first useable mobile browser, I for one am not going to make it worse but using a less useful search engine. |

#3: Of course at the end of the story profit is the goal. All those companies exist to generate profits; both companies see, IMO correctly, Google as a threat therefore an united effort to defeat, or at least to contain, it would make perfect sense.

(argh... got bit by the site again... I sent this hours ago, only to realize later that the site returned an "internal error.")
What a waste. Most Apple users will switch it back to Google immediately anyways just for spite, even if it was significantly better. |

#6 Really does depend on whether we are arguing common use or being grammatically correct based on the current definition of the English language.
For example, common use: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shitstorm and http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=shitstorm vs. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=shit%20storm Don't worry, your search engine will have those pages indexed in 10 years or so by which time the English language would have further evolved and then we can do this all over again! |

#6: eh, eh eh, should not "phone" be spelled as such? I saw billboards spelling it "fone; same for "light" spelled "lite".......

Not all iPhone users are "Apple" people. I for one won't care which it defaults to because quite simply the difference isn't nearly as noticable as it was a year ago...
Keep in mind many iphone users aren't tech snobs. They will most likely barely see a difference and not change it at all. That's why MS/Google/Yahoo pay so dearly for the coveted default spot. |
