IBM offers bounty for Exchange customers | |

IBM upped the stakes in an ongoing contest over corporate e-mail software with a program that offers business partners up to $20,000 to dump Microsoft's Exchange in favor of IBM's Lotus software on Linux. Dubbed "Migrate to the Penguin," the latest IBM incentive plan is an expansion of its Move2Lotus program, which is aimed at winning over third-party consultants and software resellers that work with Microsoft's Exchange. IBM is offering a limited-time rebate for IBM partners that move customers from Microsoft Exchange to Lotus Notes and Domino on Linux. The offer gives $20 per licensed Exchange user, or "seat," maxing out at $20,000. | ||

| So... if you start getting lots of calls from vendors anxious to "just stop by, get to know you, and talk about any email issues you may be having," you'll know why. ;) |

Yeah, right! The Lotus e-mail client has the most god awful user interface on the planet. Talk about moronic programming - this client has to be the poster boy for it. Good luck IBM - you'll need it.
I have a couple of suggestions, IBM: 1. Concentrate on selling your assets to fool investors into the fantasy that you're profitable. 2. Keep dumping money into the open sore rat hole - yeah, try to get a nickel out of that crowd! 3. Or, simple do what the rest of your company and its ilk does - sue Microsoft (yeah, it doesn't make any difference if you are doing it through the EU or directly - play Microsoft jackpot time! |
